St Mary's is the iconic Church at the top of Church Road, Wimbledon. Millions see it on television every year when the cameras pan back from the outside courts during The Championships. The Church has links with tennis, for in the 1950s Australian golden boy LEW HOAD snuck away from the Aussie Davis Cup squad to marry his sweetheart JENNY STALEY there. More recently, former British doubles star ROSS HUTCHINS married there, with ANDY MURRAY his best man.

Local historian RICHARD MILWARD tells the fascinating story of this very special parish church which dates back more than a thousand years. There are many interesting archive sketches, drawings and photographs.

Proceeds from the sale of this book go to The Wimbledon Society, whose excellent local history museum is open free to the public every Saturday afternoon in Wimbledon Village.
