THE 1953 WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIPS took place over twelve days from Monday 22 June to Saturday 4 July. Play commenced at 2pm each day on all courts, and the Gentlemen’s Singles Final was played on Friday 3 July, when second seed Vic Seixas defeated the unseeded Kurt Nielsen in the final, 9–7, 6–3, 6–4. On the final Saturday Maureen Connolly successfully defended her title, defeating Doris Hart in the final, 8–6, 7–5.

Also played on this day were the Ladies' and Mixed Doubles finals, and food rationing ended in the UK on the day after The Championships.
