In the 1950s and 60s a mail order book service was operated from London to provide affordable books for sports lovers.
The Sportsmans Book Club published cheap editions of quality books which members could buy for about a third of the original published price. The books were hardbacks in the club's distinctive thin paper dustjackets. Sports covered included cricket, football, rugger, boxing and - from time to time - lawn tennis. SBC books share a highly readable style which now half a century later seems absolutely charming! We have some SBC books at prices under twenty pounds, and we will be adding these to the website shortly. Titles will include the SBC edition of Lew Hoad's autobiography
My Game.
