THE 2004 WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIPS took place over twelve days from Monday 21 June to Saturday 3 July. Play commenced at 2pm each day on all courts, and the Gentlemen’s Singles Final was played on Friday 4 July, when defending champion Roger Federer defeated Andy Roddick in the final, 4–6, 7–5, 7–6(7–3), 6–4, On the final Saturday Maria Sharapova defeated the two-time defending champion Serena Williams in the final, 6–1, 6–4.
