This book by G.W. Hillyard is a key source of information for the researcher. Published in 1924, the opening chapter gives an informed and detailed summary of the first forty years of the history of Lawn Tennis. This in itself makes this one of the most important books ever published on the game.
The second chapter has been written by H.W.W. Wilberforce and gives a detailed account of "The Story of the All England Club" from 1868 until 1924. This again is key source material for 21st century scholars and authors.
Hillyard's third chapter is entitled "The Nine and Others" and from it the researcher can compile a Who's Who of Wimbledon up to the date of publication.
